"TO LOCAL 371 RETIREES"
Brothers & Sisters,
Finally, I have some news concerning your Union Hall. I would have tried to get the word out sooner, but was advised not to until something was finalized.
We, the Local 371 Retirees will have full access to the Hall as always. The Benefit Representative will be at the Hall every Monday from 9:00 AM - 2:30 PM and I will be there also.
The Area #8 Dinner/Meetings will continue to be held on the second Monday at 5:00 PM. Please bring a covered dish.
The Local 371 Dinner/Meetings will continue on the fourth Tuesday, as always. Please bring a covered dish and become a part of your retiree group.
The Region #3 Director wanted to put the Hall up for sale on June 1. There was a strong effort on the part of five groups, including UAW Local 371 Retirees, UAW Local 729, Henry County C.A.P., Area #8 Retirees and the Democrat Party. Mayor Jim Small also was involved in the effort to keep the Hall open and available to our retirees and the community. The proposition was accepted and the group was given one year to prove that we can meet the obligations necessary to keep the bills paid and the building maintained in good shape. At that time, the building will be signed over to the active UAW Local, Local 729. We, the Local 371 Retirees, will be a contributing and equal partner in the building.
I did my best to keep my word to you, the Retirees, to keep you in your building and keep a Benefit Representative here for you to talk to one on one and to keep our monthly Dinners/Meetings in your Hall.
In Solidarity,
Chuck Jarboe, Chairman
Retired Workers Chapter
